Hi! I'm thig.

Connect X (Twitter)

Connect X to Thig with a user-context OAuth 2.0 access token so the X Agent can publish your approved posts and threads.

Connecting X lets the X Agent post approved posts and threads directly. The connection is optional. Without it, Thig opens the X compose window with your text ready to post.

What you need

  • An X developer account and an app in the X Developer Portal.
  • A user-context OAuth 2.0 access token for the account you post from, with the tweet.write and users.read scopes.

Step 1: Set up an X app

  1. Sign in to the X Developer Portal and create a project and app.
  2. In the app's User authentication settings, turn on OAuth 2.0.
  3. Set the app permissions to Read and write.
  4. Add a callback URL that your OAuth tool will use.

Step 2: Generate a user access token

Run the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow with PKCE for your own X account, requesting tweet.write and users.read. X documents the flow in its OAuth 2.0 guide. Copy the resulting access token.

Step 3: Connect in Thig

  1. Open Account from the dock, or Settings, Integrations.
  2. Find X (Twitter) and click Connect.
  3. Paste the token into User access token (OAuth 2.0).
  4. Click Connect. Thig checks the token by reading your account.

How publishing works

ConnectionWhat Publish does
ConnectedPosts through the X API. Threads post in order, each tweet replying to the previous one
Not connectedOpens x.com/intent/post with the first tweet and copies the full text

Links to the live posts appear on the published item.

Troubleshooting

  • 401 Unauthorized: the token expired or was revoked. OAuth 2.0 user tokens are short-lived, so generate a fresh one and click Manage to replace it. If the token keeps expiring, use the compose window fallback until a refresh flow is available.
  • 403 Forbidden: the app permissions are read-only. Switch to read and write, then generate a new token.

Questions about this page

Do I have to connect X?

No. Without a connection, Publish opens the X compose window with your text and you post it yourself.

Which scopes does the token need?

tweet.write and users.read. Thig uses users.read to check the account and tweet.write to post.
