Why naming conventions matter

Analytics tools treat LinkedIn, linkedin and linkedin.com as three different sources. One sloppy link splits a campaign into rows that never add up. The builder lowercases every value and swaps spaces for your chosen separator, so the same campaign always reports as one line.

Frequently asked questions

Are UTM parameters bad for SEO?

No, as long as you only use them on links from other channels. Do not add UTM tags to internal links on your own site, because that overwrites the original source of the session.

Should UTM values be lowercase?

Yes. Most analytics tools are case sensitive, so mixing cases splits one campaign into several rows. This builder lowercases everything by default.

What is the difference between utm_source and utm_medium?

Source is the specific sender, such as linkedin or a newsletter name. Medium is the type of channel, such as social, email or cpc. GA4 uses medium heavily to assign the default channel group.

Where is my link history saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device. It is never sent to Thig. Clearing site data or pressing Clear history removes it.
