Hi! I'm thig.

Connect Google Search Console

Connect Google Search Console to Thig with Connect with Google, pick your property, and sync clicks, impressions, queries and positions.

Connecting Google Search Console lets Thig use your real search data. The SEO Agent finds striking distance keywords, the Writer uses your queries in briefs, and Analytics shows clicks, impressions and positions. Thig gets read-only access, per workspace.

Connect with Google

  1. Open Account from the dock, or Settings, Integrations. You can also click Connect next to Google in the top bar, or use the prompt in the Agent Log during onboarding.
  2. Find Google Search Console and click Connect.
  3. Click Connect with Google.
  4. Choose the Google account that has access to your Search Console property.
  5. Google shows the consent screen. Allow read access to Search Console. Thig asks for the same Google grant for Search Console and Analytics, so one consent can cover both.
  6. You return to Thig, which shows Access granted and the Google account you used.

Pick your property

  1. Under Search Console property, open Select a site.
  2. Choose the property for this workspace. A domain property looks like sc-domain:example.com. A URL-prefix property looks like https://example.com/.
  3. Save. Thig shows Saved. Syncing now.

If the list is empty, you see "No verified Search Console properties on this Google account." Sign in with the account that owns or has access to the property, or add that user in Search Console under Settings, Users and permissions.

What syncs

Data syncs every 12 hours. Click Refresh in Analytics to sync now.

Change or disconnect

  • To switch properties, open the integration and select a different site.
  • To use another Google account, click Reconnect Google.
  • To disconnect, open the integration and disconnect. This removes the connector and all collected data.

You can also revoke access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Advanced: paste a refresh token

The dialog has an Advanced: paste a refresh token instead option. Use it only if you manage your own OAuth client and already have a refresh token with the webmasters.readonly scope. Enter the OAuth refresh token and the Property.

Server setup (administrators)

On thig.ai this is already configured. If you run your own Thig server, the Connect with Google button needs a Google OAuth client:

  1. In the Google Cloud console, create or select a project.
  2. Enable the Google Search Console API, the Google Analytics Data API and the Google Analytics Admin API.
  3. Configure the OAuth consent screen with the scopes webmasters.readonly and analytics.readonly.
  4. Create an OAuth client ID of type Web application. Add the redirect URI https://<your-app-domain>/api/connectors/google/oauth/callback (Thig's APP_URL followed by that path, unless GOOGLE_OAUTH_REDIRECT_URI overrides it).
  5. Set GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID and GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET on the server and restart the API.

Until both variables are set, the integration shows Server configuration with the missing variables.

Questions about this page

What access does Thig get?

Read-only access to Search Console (the webmasters.readonly scope), per workspace. Thig cannot change your Search Console settings.

Google did not return a refresh token. What do I do?

Remove Thig's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, then connect again so Google asks for consent and issues a new token.

Should I pick the domain property or the URL-prefix property?

Pick the domain property (shown as sc-domain:example.com) if you have one. It covers every subdomain and protocol.
