What happens during onboarding
See each step Thig runs after you add a website: crawl, product summary, social handles, competitors, Google data and your strategy documents.
Onboarding is the research phase. Thig crawls your website, works out what you sell and who buys it, finds your competitors, and writes three core documents. It usually takes about ten minutes, and you can watch every step in the Agent log.
The steps
The screen is titled Analysing your business while this runs. Lines appear in the log as each step starts and finishes:
- Find the website. Thig confirms the site loads and writes a one-line summary of what you do.
- Crawl your pages. It reads your public pages and stores the text, so agents do not crawl again unless you ask.
- Write the product description and Design Guide. The Design Guide records colors, typography and visual style from your HTML and CSS.
- Detect your category. You can change it later in Context.
- Confirm social handles. If Thig finds X or LinkedIn handles on your site, it asks you to confirm them. If not, it asks whether you want to add them.
- Research competitors. It searches the web and names your main competitors.
- Connect Google data (optional). Thig asks you to connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics so the strategy uses your real keywords and traffic.
- Write the core documents. Product Information, Design Guide and Competitor Analysis. Brand Voice, Marketing Strategy, Content Strategy and the content calendar are generated on demand from Context when you want them.
Answering questions in the log
Some steps pause for your input. These questions appear inside the Agent log with a Do it later countdown. If you do nothing, the countdown runs out and Thig continues without that input. You can add handles or connect Google later from Context or Account.
What you get
When onboarding finishes, the screen changes to Your AI CMO is ready and lists the documents:
| Document | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Product Information | What you sell, for whom, pricing model and key features |
| Competitor Analysis | Named competitors, positioning, strengths, weaknesses and gaps |
| Design Guide | Colors, typography and visual style |
These are generated on demand from Context:
| Document | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Brand Voice | Voice attributes, tone by channel, words to use and avoid |
| Marketing Strategy | A 30-day plan with ICP, positioning, channels and weekly roadmap |
| Content Strategy | Pillars, topic clusters, seed keywords and first content ideas |
Every agent reads the strategy documents before it writes. Correcting them is the fastest way to improve output. See Context.
If something goes wrong
If a step fails, you see The analysis hit a problem. Retry from the log. Nothing you approved is lost.
The product tour
The first time you open Home after your strategy is ready, a short tour points out your strategy documents, your agents, the feed, the Approve button, Ask Thig and integrations. Press the arrow keys to move through it, or Skip tour to close it. To see it again, open the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Help, Product tour.
A small Getting started checklist stays in the sidebar until you approve your first draft. Click it to see the steps left.
Next step
Open your agents and start reviewing work in the feed.
Questions about this page
How long does onboarding take?
Usually around ten minutes. Larger sites take longer because Thig reads more pages.
What if the analysis fails?
The screen shows The analysis hit a problem with a retry option. Retrying keeps anything you already approved.
