Hi! I'm thig.

Connect GitHub

Connect GitHub to Thig with a fine-grained token so the Coding Agent can open pull requests and the Writer Agent can commit articles.

Connect GitHub so the Coding Agent can open pull requests with SEO fixes, and so the Writer Agent can commit articles as markdown files. Thig uses a fine-grained personal access token scoped to the repository you choose.

Step 1: Create a fine-grained token

  1. On GitHub, open Settings, Developer settings, Personal access tokens, Fine-grained tokens.
  2. Click Generate new token.
  3. Name it Thig and set an expiry.
  4. Under Repository access, choose Only select repositories and pick your site's repository.
  5. Under Repository permissions, set Contents to Read and write.
  6. To let the Coding Agent open pull requests, also set Pull requests to Read and write.
  7. Generate the token and copy it.

See GitHub's guide to managing personal access tokens.

Step 2: Connect in Thig

  1. Open Account from the dock, or Settings, Integrations.
  2. Find GitHub and click Connect.
  3. Paste the token into Personal access token.
  4. Click Connect. Thig checks the token.

Step 3: Pick a repository

  1. After connecting, choose a Repository from the list.
  2. Optionally set the Folder for articles. Articles go to content/posts by default.
  3. Save.

How each agent uses GitHub

AgentWhat it does
Coding AgentOpens a pull request with each approved fix
Writer AgentCommits an article as <folder>/<slug>.md with title, description and slug front matter, on the main branch

Troubleshooting

  • Could not load repositories: the token has no repository access. Edit the token and add the repository.
  • Pull request fails: add Pull requests read and write permission to the token.
  • Token expired: create a new token and click Manage on the GitHub card to replace it.

Questions about this page

Which token permissions does Thig need?

A fine-grained personal access token with Contents read and write on the repository. Limit it to the one repository Thig should use.

Do article commits go to a branch I review first?

Articles are committed straight to the branch because files have no draft state. Use the Coding Agent's pull requests for changes you want to review.
