Connect LinkedIn
Connect LinkedIn to Thig with a member access token so the LinkedIn Agent can publish approved posts to your LinkedIn profile.
Connecting LinkedIn lets the LinkedIn Agent publish approved posts to your own LinkedIn profile. The connection is optional. Without it, Thig copies the post text so you can paste it into LinkedIn.
What you need
- A LinkedIn app in the LinkedIn Developer Portal.
- The Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect and Share on LinkedIn products added to the app.
- A member access token with the
openid,profileandw_member_socialscopes.
Step 1: Create a LinkedIn app
- In the LinkedIn Developer Portal, click Create app.
- Enter a name, link it to a LinkedIn page and add a logo.
- On the Products tab, request Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect and Share on LinkedIn.
Step 2: Generate a member token
- Open the app's Auth tab.
- Use the OAuth 2.0 tools token generator, or your own OAuth flow.
- Select the scopes
openid,profileandw_member_social. - Sign in as yourself and approve.
- Copy the access token.
LinkedIn explains this in its Share on LinkedIn documentation.
Step 3: Connect in Thig
- Open Account from the dock, or Settings, Integrations.
- Find LinkedIn and click Connect.
- Paste the token into OAuth 2.0 access token.
- Click Connect. Thig reads your profile to check the token.
How publishing works
- Connected: Publish posts to your profile as a public post.
- Not connected, or the API call fails: Thig copies the post so you can paste it into LinkedIn and click Publish again after posting.
